Our History
The Community Housing Resource Center is an outcome of eighteen months of intensive research by the Community Reinvestment Alliance (CRA) Working Group appointed by the city of Vancouver in 1993. This research revealed that there is a wide array of home ownership assistance programs available for low/moderate income first time homebuyers but unfortunately knowledge of their availability is not widespread. The principal recommendation of the CRA Working Group was the formation of a Housing Center to remove this barrier by facilitating the process of home ownership through education and counseling and under a ‘no pressure environment’.
