Home Is Where the Heart Is Breakfast Celebrated the Center's 10th Anniversary! The Home Ownership Center celebrated its 10th Anniversary at the Center's annual Home Is Where the Heart Is breakfast, on Friday, February 18, 2005 at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The Keynote Speaker was Rey Ramsey. Rey Ramsey is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of One-Economy Corporation. One Economy maximizes the potential of technology to help low-income people improve their lives and join the economic mainstream. He is also currently the Chairman of the Board of Habitat for Humanity International. Rey is an internationally respected social entrepreneur and co-author, with Ben Hecht, of ManagingNonprofits.org: Dynamic Management for the Digital Age. He has a BA in Political Science from Rutgers University and is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School. Prior to founding One Economy in 2000, Rey served as President and Chief Operating Officer of The Enterprise Foundation (provides loans, grants and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations that are building and revitalizing local neighborhoods; the Foundation has a national network of 2,400 non-profit organizations, public housing authorities and Native American Tribes in 860 locations). Rey has also served in the cabinets of two Governors of Oregon as the state's Director of Housing and Community Services. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Brookings Institution Center on Urban and Metropolitan Policy, and on the boards of Schnitzer Investment Corporation, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and Kaboom! The event was covered by CVTV, the City of Vancouver's cable television station.
