Washington is a Center for Independent Living, an organization run by
persons with disabilities, promoting the civil rights of persons with
disabilities. Through a combination of individualized services, resource
referral and advocacy efforts, disAbility Resources assists people to
maximize independence and integration into all aspects of life.
Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program
Offers legal clinics, classes, referrals and some direct
representation. Advice is regularly available in several areas including
landlord/tenant and collections.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity International is a Christian organization and welcomes volunteers from all faiths who are committed to Habitat's goal of eliminating poverty Housing. Homes are sold with no profit made. Homeowners contribute "Sweat Equity" and house payments are recycled to build additional homes.
Hacienda Community Development
Corporation
Hacienda is a HUD-certified counseling agency offering home buying
and foreclosure prevention counseling. Hacienda offers Individual Development Accounts, savings accounts with a 3 to 1 match for those saving for a home.
Hacienda also provides coaching on financial literacy and budgeting and
credit counseling.
Housing Authority of Portland
The Housing Authority of Portland oversees 6,200 housing units,
which vary in size, design and location to meet the different needs of
our residents. The Housing Authority also offers the HUD-funded Section
8 rent assistance and administers approximately 8,000 vouchers in this
program.
